"Mailey" from "Write Me Down, I Was Here"

Directed by Kayla Hardy, Write Me Down, “I Was Here” is a student production put on by Emerson College’s Mercutio Troupe. Along with Kayla, and the AD Marina Newman, I worked as the Stage Manager.

Devised Theatre is a method of theater-making in which the performance originates from a collaborative process. Our process let the cast lead in an emotional exploration through movement.

Directors Note: We began this process centering our exploration around grief. We wanted to challenge ourselves to examine the recurrent circular experiences of grief we find in our everyday lives. Through this collaborative process we have created a show that is so much bigger than where we originally started. We aimed to push the boundaries of our storytelling by using movement to express moments of patience, healing, grief, and nostalgia. More importantly we have used bodies to walk the line between these emotions, finding points of connection which shaped these narratives. Our belief is that anyone will be able to find a piece of themselves in this show. Bodies in conversation with each other speak to us in ways that words cannot, it is here we challenge you to listen.
